UNSOUND EVENT IN NYC

I was asked to take part in the next UNSOUND event (thank you Lee!).

I will be upstairs at the show selling at least eight new limited edition prints (and the two old ones) as well as MALSONUS related CDs, etc.

I hope to see some of you NYC area folks there.

Here are links to each band's respective site if you want to check them out:

UPDATE 4.23.08 - ARBEIT is no longer playing the event.

Thanks. -Jonathan

"Hunt of the Thrill" group show - Philadelphia

This will be my first exhibition in my home city of Philly. Many thanks to A.D. Amorosi for putting this show together.

I will have seven framed pieces on display. Five paintings will be for sale and four are brand new!

I am pleased to say that local artist Nicole Kristiana FitzGibbon will be exhibiting as well. It should make for quite a balanced show. Check out her art website: http://www.nicolekristianastudio.com

I look forward to seeing friends some of you locals at the First Friday opening night reception. Be sure to say hello if you can make it.

For those that can't make the opening night: Glam is open Monday thru Thursday 6pm - Midnight, Friday and Saturday nights 6pm to 1am (closed Sunday). They have a happy hour during the week as well. The show will be up though the last day of April.

Thank you. -Jonathan

Orgao Porné video

Here's a brief video of the Orgao Porné exhibition in Bologna, Italy which opened on Saturday. My painting is the one you can barely see because the camera's shutter closes (ha ha). My artwork is so evil it cannot be video recorded!

Thanks. -Jonathan

Nasum Illustration

How about this for a change of pace? No bleeding corpses having sex? What?

Anders from NASUM and COLDWORKER asked me to do an illustration for the upcoming NASUM / NAPALM DEATH Live Picture Disc.

Of course I could not refuse as I have been a huge fan of NASUM since first hearing "Inhale/Exhale" almost ten years ago. Oh yeah... I've been listening to N.D. regularly since the late 80's as well. This was kind of a grindnerd artist's wet dream actually.

After many hours of work (possibly more than any other album cover I've done) both Anders and I were pleased with the end result. It is an honor to have been involved in this project.

For more on this release go to nasum.com

Thanks. -Jonathan

Old School

Sorry for the lack of updates. Busy busy.

The above photo was taken around last Xmas. That's me standing in front of the one and only oil painting I've done. This was created when I was a senior in high school around 1991.

It struck me the last time I saw it how similar it is to my "Composite" paintings. I remember this one was inspired by Lucas Samaras' skull paintings. It all seems intentionally connected but I attribute it more to instinct (or whatever you want to call it).

The funny part is that my Dad has it hanging in his living room?!?!

Until next time. -Jonathan

Monster Brains

I just discovered this interesting art blog (also hosted by Blogger as well):

monsterbrains.blogspot.com

If you look here the brain behind Monster Brains set up a flickr page featuring Antoine Bernhart. I need to look into this as it's a damn tragedy there is no website dedicated to Bernhart's amazing artwork.

Thanks. -Jonathan

Hospital Brut 7

I recently got my copy of Le Dernier Cri's amazing art comp book "Hosptial Brut 7."

The book is half screen printed (beautifully) and half high res color printed.

I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone into art on the WEIRD side. I must have spent hours looking at it over and over again. I can't wait to get some more recent Le Dernier products when I have the money.

Go to the Le Dernier Cri website for more info or to order.

Thanks. -Jonathan
